Windows 7 fails to boot & repair from DVD doesn’t help either.

Sometimes when Windows throws it’s toys out of the pram for what ever reason the automatic start up repair doesn’t work. You can of course try and run the same repair from the Windows 7 DVD but occasionally that doesn’t help / work either.

Assuming that its not a hard drive issue and that your Windows drive / data is still in tact, try the following to fully rebuild your boot loader.

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD or Repair CD

Click on install or Repair

Press Shift + F10 to get to the console

Type
diskpart
and hit enter

type
list volume

Check to see if your windows partition is listed as C:

If not, use assign from within diskpart to change it
help assign

Type
exit
To leave diskpart

Now type
cd c:\windows\system32
and hit enter

Type:
bcdboot c:\windows /s c:
hit enter

Type:
shutdown -r -t 0
Hit enter, remove DVD and you should be set!
